Key Features
Conducting Hearings
Attendance Management
The bench clerk is responsible for recording attendance during a hearing, marking participants as present, absent, exempted, or not required. The clerk can also add additional attendees if needed.
Video Conferencing
Court staff can update video conferencing links for hearings, either for individual hearings or entire slots.
Transcription
Hearings are transcribed, with orders, witness depositions, and testimonies recorded and stored as transcriptions. The system integrates with transcription services at the solution layer for automated transcription.
Assisted Transcription: A screen-to-type transcription is available for the judge and typist/stenographer. The judge signs and publishes the transcription in PDF format, which is stored in the documents section.
Order Generation
Each hearing concludes with the generation of an order that includes a summary of the hearing and instructions for the litigants, advocates, or witnesses. The bench clerk can draft the order, but the judge must publish it.
Activity Management: The system supports various hearing activities, such as marking documents as evidence, approving/rejecting applications, imposing penalties, referring cases to ADR, and issuing summons/notices.
Cause List & Dashboard
Cause List: A list outlining the cases scheduled for a particular day, available for all parties to download.
Dashboard: A dedicated dashboard tracks the number of adjournments, missed hearings, reasons for absences, requests for adjournment or extensions, and the status of summons. Judges can access this dashboard through their login portal.
Ideas for Future Development
Automated Video Conferencing Link Generation: Future versions could automate the generation and integration of video conferencing links, enhancing the remote hearing experience.
Granular Control over Hearing Timings: While the current version groups hearings into slots, future updates could allow for more precise scheduling with specific hearing-level timings.
Advanced Attendance Management: Automating the recording of exemption statuses based on approved applications could streamline attendance management during hearings.
